OBama Bring Change to America
Lets talk about Islam. During Barack Hussein Obama presidental journey to become president of the United States of America, there was talk about him being a Muslim. Would it have matter if he was a Muslim? Does it matter if any president is a Muslim or not? Why or why not? Please make comments but post them anonymously.

If Barrack Hussein Obama was hussein i wouldnt care becaus ehe is a man that has great things in store for this country. Race wouldn't matter to me because it isnt about that its about who is going to lead this country the right way. Many people wouldn't accept that.

It doesn't matter. You can't control what color you are when you are born. What matters is htat he has good ideas and he can change the country.

it would matter a great deal, okay. Nobody wants no muslim running this country. It is already bad enough we don't need no muslim. I would rather have a old guy and a no nothing women then a muslim guy. If he was muslim and won, he betrer not try and change my religon because i would get out of this country.

I wouldn't vote for him if he was muslim I wouldnt vote for him even i could vote right now. The country runs off of sterotypes and that on of the largest but if he was muslim he wouldnt get my vote real talk.
Yes it would have mattered if he was a Muslim because no one would have voted for him to even become the democratic candidate. I say that because we dont play that Islam crap in this country!!! YES, it would matter if obama was a muslim. It really shouldnt matter because thats his personal preferance and his choice to practice islam. People in america usually link islam to terrorists and its not neccesrrily true. People usuallty listen to what others stay instead of investigating for themselves so the race factor and his religion was attacked and questioned throught the campaign trail.
Yes, it would have made a diffenence if Obama was Muslim. It shouldnt but it does. The things we associate with being Muslim are not good things so we don want the person being asscoiated with Muslim to be our President. If Obama was Muslim i dont think he would have made it anywhere near close to becoming President.
No, i Would not vote for Obama if he was islamic. I would think that he was a terroist and he had secret plans to blow up the country. If Barrack Obama was Muslim, I would feel kind of strange. I think the fact that they already think that he is a terrorist no offense to anyone but it would be worst if he was muslim. I show respect to the muslim but i dont think that would be right for a president to have a muslim religion i would not vote for him. No offense.
I believe that it does not matter if you are Muslim or not. It does't matter what religion Barack Obama is because he is a great leader and that is all that really matters because you could be christain and that doesn't mean that everyone agrees with that religion so therefore I believe it don't matter what religion you believe in.
It shouldnt matter if Obama was muslim or not. Your religion should not project how a person is. We shouldnt discriminiate people upon their own indiviality of oneself. It shouldnt matter if any president is Muslim because that person did not sign up to be the talk of religion they are here to serve you and the country. We should worry about how that person is going to up bring the nation not what his personal life is.

If Obama was a Muslim, it shouldn't matter, but it would. With the 9/11 attack, people are afraid of the idea of a Muslim man heading their country. With fear comes ignorance, and it's human nature to hate anything it doesn't understand. If he were actually Muslim, he would be booted out of the race most likely. If he was still in the race after all that, it really wouldn't have mannered, because once he told the people of his ideas during the debates, people would've been won over. The McCain/Palin team would've made low blows about it, when it comes down to it, he's fit to lead the country. Especially when he was put up against McCain.
Well if barack obama was islam I wouldn't care. It would most likely change how people felt about him running the country. People believe that Islam has a lot to do with terrorism, and with all of the stuff going on in America like the recession that plays a huge role in how people would vote.
Things would have changed because people associate Muslims with terrorism, and that would make the people of America be more afraid and not vote for him. His religion doesn't matter to me, as long as he leads this country in the right direction. His religion shouldn't matter, it's just that people MAKE it matter.
It would matter if he was Islamic. It shouldn't, but it would. THe majority of the U.S. is Cristian, and people are scared to follow someone who doesn't believe the same thing he does.

I think that the religion does not matter but the principle which they leave under. This country was made to make process and grow, if that is what the president wants then he is qualified to do the job.
If Barack Obama was Muslim, it would have probably changed my perception of him. Most Muslims are crazy radicals. I really wouldn't trust a Muslim with a middle name of "Hussein" to by the president of the United States
Obama was elected to bring change. He does not fit the stereotype of a typical president. Religion should not play a factor when it comes our president. The president should have pride in the country and want to see the country and it's people prosper. Race, gender, religion, or age have nothing to do with how much a person wants to see his/her country succeed. Obama was a great candidate and no matter what color he was, I would have still voted for him. The fact that he's black is just a plus.
Personally, I don't think that his religious preference should matter but unfortunately it does. The US was founded on Christainity but jus because a person isn't Christain doesn't mean that they love the country any less than the next person. But truth be told, if he was Muslim he would have gotten lss votes because even though our country is trying to be more open minded, that is a step too far for some of our Americans.
I couldn't do it, I just couldn't. He is well qualified, intelligent, well spoken, and a good man, but I could not support a muslim candidate. I could not support the leader of my country praising allah and not God. I also couldn't support him because the muslim faith does not recognize Jesus as the Son of God, just as a prophet. I love this country and what it stands for, and I simply couldn't fathom a President that didn't believe in God.
I do not care about his religious background. Obama is a very genuine man that has pride in his country. The general public focuses too much on categories...they do not matter. As children we were taught to accept all and to be tolerant, America is a melting pot of all sorts. If he brings change to our country bless his heart and give him thanks.
If Obama had been Muslim the major questions voters would have was would he try to alter the constitution or did he have alternate motives as president. I dont think American voters have matured or healed enough from the terrorist acts in 2001 enough to not associate that lifestyle with Muslims. Personally, I do not mind if we had a muslim president as long as he can convincingly asssure me of his motives as a president, as with any candidate.
It's obvious that we see Barack as a man who knows what it is like to be a minority, so I think that it wouldn't matter as much. I think that because if he came with the same principles and policies as he does now, nobody would care as much. However, if heas Hussein, it would effect his campaign some because as nation the stereotype is that Muslims have broke up our nation one 9/11. I think Barack would still win the campaign, but it would probably be a closer race.
I believe it should not matter if Obama was Muslim or not. Americans need to focus more on the issues at hand rather than religion. Although religion does play a major part in an individual life,the safety and the security of America is more important than a person's religion.
the only reason i think people care about the hypothetical Muslim president is because of the stereotypes we have set for authoritative positions. we automatically think Christian. we as ppl tend to think that if someone is not Christian, something is wrong.
but race should not matter, point blank period. there is nothing about his personal life that should be a determining factor in the election, it should be based on his intentions for the country.
I think it would have mattered if he was Muslim. I don't think there is anything wrong with Islam, but we are a christian dominating society. Our government has to reflect its people.

Yes, i think it would have mattered if Barack Obama was muslim. Lots of people in this country have a negative view of muslims. This may have to do with the war in Iraq. We are fighting the extremists, which are muslim, and for some reason people think that all muslims are crazy suicide bombers. So, therefore people would think about him in this way.

I believe it really doesn't matter what your race or religion views are to become president. I you have the right mind set of making the world a better place.Setting a side the violence, racism and things of that nature. The only thing that matters is that he wants to show America change and he has a plan for that and i believe he will achieve it.

Well if we practice freedom of religion why would it matter what religion he was no matter the war, he wants to end it anyway right so how would that effect us because if we didn't like his religion why not take out the amendment entirely?
It does matter if obama was a muslim. I say this because if he is the president, he might go and try to make a law saying everyone has to be a muslim. I am perfectly fine with my religon and don't need a muslum running this country. We are not talking about gender or race, we are talkig about religion. So don't try and get on christianity just because me and you don't have the same opinions.
I think no one woud care about his ideas if he was a muslum, at least not til after they get off the fact that he is what he is. So of course it would matter. I mean look at what is going on now, he is black and some don't like him. Think about if he was a muslum?
I dont believe religion should be an issue when the constitution clearly states: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances". It doesn't matter if he is Muslim, remember people the terrorist were Muslim extremist, not all Muslims are like that.Its his actions that affect us and if he is a good leader and does what is best for the U.S so what if he is a Muslim, its not hurting us.
So no it should not matter if he is Muslim, Buddhist, or Christian just as long as he is loyal to his country and the people that have elected him with so much faith.

It shouldn't matter what religion a person is.... We shouldn't judge people based on stereotypes. Stereotypes don't apply to everyone... Stereotypes aren't alive, people are, so what we should do is get to know the person instead of condeming them just because of their religion or any other thing.

Well I'm guessing I'm a little late for this one...lol. But um yea..Barack Obama is our President Elect now so obviously his religion and race mattered, but not enough for him not to get elected. People should just accept the fact that Black people CAN make something out of themselves.... and that when it all boils down there is only one race...and thats the human race! So for everyone that likes to hold sterotypes against each other, race in particular, they can just shut up and get ready for Obama to take the White House...pretty soon the black community will be up in D.C ready to paint the big crib Black!!! haha!!
